Job Opportunity: Technical Director of BIM
We are seeking a Technical Director of BIM to lead the development of the discipline in support of PM Group's strategy and local business unit plans. The successful candidate will contribute strategically to the future shaping of PM Group.
This senior appointment will report to the Group Head of DeLPD, with responsibility for leadership, governance, troubleshooting, and defining ways of working in BIM.
The role offers a flexible working environment with a hybrid working arrangement, allowing up to two days of remote work per week. This key role will be based in one of our Irish offices.
Responsibilities
1. PM Group Strategy for BIM
o Develop a strategy for BIM across the Group, forecasting and planning required capability and capacity.
o Support business units in strengthening and growing their departments, including department profiling, team competency gaps, and associated training needs.
o Work with pillars such as Architecture, Engineering, CQV, Projects, Environmental, etc., to align and develop cross-functional competencies targeted at key sectors and technologies.
o Define design activities and deliverables required to deliver projects safely and efficiently, focusing on core sectors.
2. Digitalisation of Business Processes/Ways of Working
o Develop a strategy for BIM across the Group, forecasting and planning required capability and capacity.
o Support business units in strengthening and growing their departments, including department profiling, team competency gaps, and associated training needs.
o Develop targeted SME areas within BIM.
o Work with pillars such as Architecture, Engineering, CQV, Projects, Environmental, etc., to align and develop cross-functional competencies targeted at key sectors and technologies.
o Define design activities and deliverables required to deliver projects safely and efficiently, focusing on core sectors.
3. Governance of Design Delivery
o Support and input to key proposals requested by pillars.
o Work with the Group Head of DeLPD to establish a 'watch list' of key projects based on design challenge and technical integrity risk.
o Influence early stages of design on key projects.
o Review BEP's, contractual documents, and audit governance of standardization efforts.
o Input to end-of-concept/BoD 'go/no-go' reviews for high-risk challenging projects.
4. Troubleshooting
o Be a first responder for critical issues regarding BIM design across the Group.
o Meet with senior members of both teams.
o Agree corrective actions and way forward.
o Act as technical sponsor for corrective actions.
o Keep PM Group Management updated on correction action progress.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferred).
Experience/Attributes
* PASSION FOR BIM DESIGN.
* SAFE ASSET FOCUS.
* BACHELOR DEGREE.
* 15 years of relevant industry experience, with at least 10 years at senior management level.
* Good working knowledge of Pharma, EV battery, Food, and Med Tech industries.
* Good working knowledge of BIM design and cGMP experience.
* Proven track record of leading a project in detailed BIM Design on a large complex project.
* Member of a recognized engineering professional body.
* Strong technical, commercial, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
* Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
* Good communication & people skills.
* Self-starter and decision maker.
* Fluent English.
