Our Sport & Leisure Services Department offers a variety of health and wellbeing opportunities, adopting a rights-based approach to ensure people of all abilities and ages have access to the resources and support they need to lead healthy, active lives.What We DoLeisure Centre: A fully accessible 19m hydrotherapy swimming pool, social areas, small gym and fitness studio, designed to accommodate diverse needs.Online Activity Hub: A digital service offering new opportunities for people with disabilities to engage with health, advocacy, and educational content, helping to improve digital and social inclusion.Community-Based Sports Programming: Working with partners in the community to provide inclusive sports and physical activities.Health Promotion and Education: Offering activities and resources that promote physical and mental well-being.About the RoleYour primary focus of the role is lifeguarding, ensuring a safe environment for all users and to maintain cleanliness of the facility. Our aim is to positively engage with people who use our services, supporting their participation in leisure activities and promoting health, wellbeing, and social inclusion. You will also assist with the delivery of swimming and physical activity programmes where required.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide pool supervision in line with National Pool Lifeguard standards and follow the facility NOP and EAP.Conduct routine health and safety checks across the facility.Perform plant room operations (full training provided) to help maintain a safe and functional pool environment.Report maintenance requirements and assist in ensuring the facility remains safe, clean, and operational.Engage in regular lifeguard training to maintain best practices and emergency readiness.Facilitate enjoyable and engaging activities that promote physical, social, and emotional wellbeing.Promote an inclusive and person-centred environment that encourages participation and independence.About YouYou have a genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities in achieving their health and fitness goals.You are enthusiastic, empathetic, and have a positive approach to working with individuals of all abilities.You are a team player with excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn and develop.Experience in leisure, sports, or healthcare is a plus, but most importantly, you bring a caring attitude and a commitment to delivering exceptional support.Qualifications and RequirementsA current RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification/Irish Water Safety Pool Lifeguard QualificationHave a professional and positive approach on all aspects of the roleFull Driving Licence (desirable)A recognised Qualification in Sport, Leisure & Recreation/ Community Sports Development/ Coaching or Teaching/Health Promotion (desirable)Previous experience working with people with disabilities (desirable)Previous experience working in the sport, leisure, fitness or recreation sector (desirable)Pool Plant Room qualification (desirable)Fitness Qualification or Sports Coaching Certificates (desirable)Aqua Aerobics Certificate (desirable)Older Adult Physical Activity Programming (desirable)Disability Awareness Training (desirable)Safeguarding/Child protection qualification (desirable)Swimming Teaching Qualification (desirable)Strong commitment to the empowerment of people with disabilitiesWhat We OfferHSE Pay Scale (incremental)Premium PaymentsSick Pay SchemePaid Maternity LeavePensionCycle to Work SchemeGenerous Annual LeaveEmployee Assistance ProgrammeComprehensive InductionTraining / CPDCareer ProgressionWorking HoursIn general, shifts are Monday to Friday 9:00am-5:00pm but the position requires flexibility to work shifts on evenings and weekends on occasion.
