Job Purpose:
The Goods In Operative is responsible for receiving, checking, and recording incoming stock and deliveries, ensuring that all goods are handled efficiently, safely, and accurately. This role plays a critical part in the smooth operation of the warehouse and overall supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and unload deliveries of stock and materials.
- Check goods received against delivery notes and purchase orders to ensure accuracy.
- Inspect deliveries for damage or discrepancies and report any issues.
- Accurately record goods received in the warehouse management system (WMS).
- Label and allocate stock to appropriate storage areas.
- Operate forklifts, pallet trucks, and other warehouse equipment safely (training provided if necessary).
- Ensure the cleanliness, organisation, and safety of the goods-in area.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments (e.g., purchasing, quality control) regarding any delivery issues.
- Assist in stock rotation and inventory control as required.
- Comply with health and safety procedures at all times.
Requirements:
Essential:
- Previous experience in a warehouse or logistics environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication skills and a team-player attitude.
- Physically fit and able to lift and move goods as required.
- Basic computer literacy.
Desirable:
- Forklift truck licence (e.g., Counterbalance or Reach).
- Experience using a Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Knowledge of stock control processes.
