Job Description:

* The Clinical Nurse Manager II Anaesthetics and Recovery will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the service, leading a team to deliver safe and effective nursing care in the Theatre Department.
">

Key Responsibilities:

">
1. Implement policies and legislative requirements regarding storage and administration of medicines.
2. E nsure emergency equipment is standard across the service, checked and aligned with national guidelines.
3. Directly manage junior staff and ensure effective staff development in line with Hospital policy.
4. Plan and organise theatre schedules and outpatient schedules in liaison with other members of relevant care teams / management.
5. Monitor theatre operating times and throughput of patients and, in conjunction with registered nurses, identifying and implementing changes required to maximise efficiency.
6. Audit recovery times of patients and in collaboration with theatre manager use data to drive improvements.
7. Monitor and improve the standard of record keeping, including patient notes and theatre register.
8. Support the management of theatre stock control, co-ordinate purchasing in accordance with theatre needs.
9. Lead and support the anaesthetic and recovery team.
10. Work with the Theatre Manager in developing programmes of induction to ensure staff are fit for undertaking role they are employed for.
11. Influence and participate in future developments that impact on the current service delivery and staff.
12. Recruit and select staff in line with staffing needs and budget, arranging orientation and induction.
13. Motivate and coach team members, providing feedback on performance to individual staff.
14. Identify resource needs in order to meet both the patients needs and safety requirements (e.g. manual handling equipment). Alert the Theatre Manager if the lack of resources compromises health and safety.
15. Manage performance, sickness absence and staff grievances in conjunction with the Theatre Manager and adhering to Hospital policies, enlisting the help of personnel and occupational health where necessary.
16. To play an active role in quality and patient safety. Development of relevant KPIs for the area and driving practice to achieve compliance with JCI standards of care.

Requirements:

">
* Be Registered General Nurse with The Nursing and Midwifery Bord of Ireland (NMBI).
* At least 3 years post registration experience – desirable.
* Management experience in a similar environment is desirable but not essential.
* Must have strong organisation and problem-solving skills.
* Must possess in date ACLS and PEARS or in pursuit of same.
* Have completed a Management Course or commit to undertake same.
* Display evidence of continuing professional development.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft packages is essential.
* Have experience in change management.
