We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Qualified Actuary to join our Standard Life International (SL Intl) Actuarial Function team based in Dublin. The primary responsibilities of the team are to support the Head of Actuarial Function (HoAF) sign-off of Solvency II results and methodology, review best estimate bases, and provide annual opinions on Technical Provisions and Underwriting.


Key Responsibilities


Solvency II

* Coordinate and monitor the evaluation of Solvency II results, overseeing governance and sign-off of calculations, including reviewing methodology, assumptions, data quality, and limitations.
* Support the HoAF in producing the annual Actuarial Opinion on Technical Provisions (AOTP) and the Actuarial Report on Technical Provisions (ARTP).


Basis and Methodology

* Assist in the production of the annual Underwriting Opinion.
* Review proposals for new initiatives, pricing, and product development updates, and participate in regular product and pricing reviews.
* Represent the Actuarial Function at the Product, Pricing and Profitability Committee (PPPC), providing feedback and ensuring appropriate financial reporting actions.


Underwriting & Pricing

* Support the HoAF in producing the Underwriting Opinion and reviewing proposals.
* Participate in PPPC meetings, providing actuarial insights.


Other Role Requirements

* Support the HoAF in regulatory duties, including liaising with the CBI and managing intra-group reinsurance issues.
* Develop and maintain relationships within SL Intl and the wider Group.
* Contribute to projects and changes within SL Intl and the Group.


Required Skills And Personal Attributes

* Qualified Actuary
* Experience in life insurance, especially unit-linked, annuities, and with-profits business
* Knowledge of Solvency II Standard Formula is advantageous
* Understanding of the HoAF’s statutory responsibilities
* Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
* Ability to quickly grasp key issues and make sound judgments
