EIB Trainee – Human Resources Directorate – Employee Relations Division – based in Luxembourg

Objective of the traineeship
The Employee Relations Division brings together legal expertise within the HR Directorate and serves as the key interface with the Legal Directorate on legal HR matters. The Division delivers legal advice on staff matters within HR and EIB-wide. It oversees the drafting of legal documents concerning staff matters, including Staff Rules and relevant policies, and provides support to the drafting of policy documents to other teams in HR. It contributes to the social dialogue in the Bank by coordinating and supporting the implementation and update of the framework for social dialogue. The Division is also in charge of handling several HR legal procedures (administrative review, Dignity at Work procedure and disciplinary procedure).
You will provide assistance and support to the team by primarily:
* Carrying out legal research and comparative studies of relevant jurisprudence, national legislation, EU Directives and international/EU civil service principles,
* Assisting the HR lawyers with the drafting of documents related to internal procedures such as the administrative review procedure, the anti-harassment procedure and the disciplinary procedure
* Assisting in the preparation of draft answers on HR issues related to questions on employment and labour law, staff rights and benefits under Staff Rules and Regulations, data protection and other staff-related matters.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Head of Division and other team members, you will provide support and assistance to HR lawyers in legal research, drafting of legal documents and advice on HR issues. Your tasks may evolve during the traineeship but will include:
* Assisting lawyers with legal research on case-law as well as legal analysis
* Assisting lawyers with drafting legal documents related to HR legal procedures (administrative review, anti-harassment procedure and disciplinary procedure)
* Assisting lawyers in the preparation of draft answers on HR issues related to questions on employment and labour law, staff rights and benefits under Staff Rules and Regulations, data protection and other staff-related matters
* Preparation of reports, drafting of internal notes and other specific assignments as required
Academic qualifications and professional skills
* Final year of studies or University Degree in Law. Good knowledge of Labour and/or European Union Law
* Very good knowledge of MS Office software, in particular Excel and Word
* Fluency in English, good knowledge of French would be an advantage.
