Project Manager / Assistant Contracts Manager
to join a Life Sciences delivery team based in
Limerick
, supporting the successful delivery of technically challenging pharmaceutical and biotechnology projects.
Role Overview
The Project Manager / Assistant Contracts Manager is a senior site leader responsible for the delivery of a defined section of works on a Life Sciences project.
The role involves managing all aspects of project execution including preconstruction, design coordination, procurement, construction, and commercial performance, while ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Working closely with engineering, commercial, design, and construction teams, you will ensure the project is delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while meeting and exceeding client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
Plan, manage, and deliver project works in line with agreed programme, budget, and specifications
Coordinate and lead multidisciplinary teams across engineering, commercial, design, and construction functions
Monitor progress against milestones, proactively managing risks and implementing corrective actions
Ensure effective allocation of resources to meet project objectives
Maintain accurate and timely reporting on programme, costs, quality, and key performance indicators
Prepare, implement, and maintain the Project Execution Plan (PEP)
Identify opportunities to add value, improve efficiency, and enhance commercial performance
Quality, Safety, and Compliance
Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental performance on site
Ensure all works comply with design documentation, specifications, and statutory regulations
Implement and monitor project-specific quality plans, method statements, and inspection regimes
Ensure works are carried out in line with company HSEQS policies and standard operating procedures
Support audits, inspections, and reviews, driving continuous improvement across the project
Commercial and Contract Management
Manage project budgets, forecasts, variations, and cash flow in collaboration with the commercial team
Support accurate cost reporting and contract administration
Ensure procurement processes are followed and subcontractor performance is effectively managed
Support tendering, bid preparation, and preconstruction activities where required
Leadership and Communication
Lead and motivate project teams, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional development
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners
Chair project progress and coordination meetings, ensuring clear communication and follow-up
Act as a key point of contact for project-related decisions, queries, and escalations
Candidate Requirements
Degree-qualified in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline
Proven experience in a Project Manager or Assistant Contracts Manager role within a Tier 1 construction or engineering environment
Experience delivering complex projects, ideally within Life Sciences, pharmaceutical, or highly regulated sectors
Strong understanding of project delivery, commercial management, and construction methodologies
Relevant health and safety certification (Safe Pass, CSCS, SMSTS, or equivalent)
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Proactive, organised, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Desirable
Professional membership or working towards membership of a recognised body (CIOB, Engineers Ireland, RICS, ICE, or equivalent)
Postgraduate qualification in Project Management or Business Management
Experience or training in lean construction, digital project delivery, or sustainability practices
