Grid Manager – Energy Portfolio | Ireland (with UK exposure)
A leading player in the clean energy sector is looking for a Grid Manager to take ownership of the creation, socialisation and delivery of their grid strategy.
This role will oversee all grid related activity across an evolving energy portfolio, from early stage connection applications through to delivery, commissioning and ongoing optimisation.
Initially focused on the Irish power market, the remit is expected to broaden over time across the UK.
The Opportunity
As Grid Manager, you’ll be the go to subject matter expert, shaping grid strategy and ensuring the business remains ahead of regulatory, technical and industry developments. You’ll work across a diverse asset base including thermal generation, solar, wind, and BESS.
Develop and deliver the organisation’s grid asset strategy across Ireland and the UK.
Stay ahead of key regulatory and grid developments, contributing insights to consultations and industry forums.
Interpret complex technical grid policy, identifying and shaping opportunities for new and existing projects.
Represent the business in discussions with TSO/DSO and industry bodies.
Identify optimal grid connection opportunities, both location and technology.
Scope, assess and negotiate technical and commercial elements across generation and storage projects, including EPC and supply chain engagements.
Provide assumptions for network related value drivers (constraints, losses, curtailment, connection costs, etc.).
What You’ll Bring
Deep knowledge of UK and Ireland grid connections, testing and compliance processes.
Proven experience managing the end to end grid connection lifecycle: site selection, feasibility, applications, offers, design, commissioning/testing and energisation.
Strong understanding of grid value drivers (constraints, curtailments, firmness, TLAFs, etc.).
Ability to work independently and deliver to deadlines, with sound judgement on when to collaborate.
Confident stakeholder engagement across the ecosystem: TSO/DSO, equipment manufacturers, contractors and internal teams.
Experience conducting feasibility assessments for new sites.
Solid understanding of Grid Code requirements across a range of asset types (thermal, renewable, solar, flexible demand).
Knowledge of power markets and commercial value drivers is an advantage.
Why This Role?
You’ll play a critical part in shaping a growing energy portfolio, influencing strategy, driving technical excellence, and representing the business at industry level.
A great fit for someone who enjoys ownership, complexity, and being at the centre of technical, commercial and regulatory decision-making in the energy transition.
