EPS Group has an exciting opportunity for an energetic and enthusiastic individual to join our Operations team as a part-time Laboratory Process Technician. The position is based at Ennis Drinking Water Treatment Plant.
The role requires a flexible, self-motivated, and proactive person who manages their time effectively. Good communication skills and proficiency in English are essential, including the ability to communicate well face-to-face and on the phone with colleagues, clients, and statutory bodies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Mechanical and electrical works
2. Process monitoring, record keeping, and sampling
3. Laboratory testing, including BOD, COD, suspended solids, turbidity, and other water and wastewater analysis techniques
4. Process control, monitoring, and basic maintenance and repair
5. Data analysis and technical report generation
6. Environmental compliance monitoring, including water discharge limits, odour, and noise
7. Maintaining analysis schedules and liaising with external laboratories
8. Ordering equipment, chemicals, and consumables
9. Heavy manual work and outdoor work in all weather conditions
10. Flexible hours, including weekends, bank holidays, and participation in standby and call-out rotas
Key Skills and Competencies
1. Laboratory testing background
2. Experience with drinking water and wastewater processes
3. Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage time effectively
4. Proficiency in Excel and Word
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
6. Full clean driving license
7. Jar testing experience
Qualifications
1. Minimum three years' experience in a process industry, preferably in water treatment
2. Experience with wet chemistry analytical techniques and test kits such as Hach
3. Ability to work independently and in a team
4. Third-level qualification in environmental science, chemistry, or related field
