We are seeking an experienced environmental professional to lead environment in Ireland and support other product lines in the UK and overseas as part of a growing multidisciplinary team delivering projects for a diverse portfolio of UK clients.
Responsibilities
Client engagement and work winning
Identify and grow a sustainable pipeline of opportunities in the Ireland market.
Identify multi‑disciplinary opportunities in collaboration with other infrastructure/systems disciplines and with the consultancy business.
Engage with clients to understand future needs and position SYSTRA in the UK market.
Participate in industry events to attract new clients and partners.
Maintain an up‑to‑date understanding of market drivers, discipline developments and key innovations.
Develop and recruit skills aligned with growth needs and the pipeline of opportunities.
Work with Market Directors and PMO teams to identify resources required for bids and projects.
Deliver project work to agreed programme, budget, safety and quality specifications.
Line management of teams
Manage team capability and experience.
Manage health, safety and wellbeing of staff.
Lead recruitment, training and development of discipline staff.
Maintain a competence framework within SYSTRA’s competence matrix.
Undertake objective setting and mid‑year development reviews.
Cascade business communications through the team.
Provide safety leadership, champion close‑call reporting and continuous safety improvement.
Technical leadership and assurance
Inspire technical excellence within the environmental team.
Ensure a blend of competent staff and independent contractors for single and multi‑disciplinary projects.
Ensure technically sound solutions, including reporting and cost estimating, are delivered on programme and within budget.
Confirm staff are qualified for the level of environmental input required for each project.
Lead technical safety, mastering CDM and other regulations and industry practice such as safe‑by‑design and health‑by‑design.
Maintain strong working relationships, knowledge and innovation sharing with other SYSTRA entities.
Qualifications
Relevant environmental or planning degree (Chartered if applicable).
Demonstrable experience in EIA delivery.
Post‑graduate experience, ideally within a consultancy environment.
Comprehensive knowledge of the EIA process and environmental technical expertise.
Experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
Familiarity with other consenting processes.
Thorough knowledge of a diverse range of environmental issues.
Proven track record of developing and up‑skilling internal teams.
Evidence of successfully driving business growth.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong report‑writing, presentation skills and ability to review the work of others for quality.
