Overview
Senior Resident Engineer – 7 month contract at DBFL Consulting Engineers Ltd.
Due to an ongoing portfolio of projects nationally, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Resident Engineer in our Civils / Infrastructure Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking the Senior Resident Engineer role at our project in Delgany/Greystones, Co. Wicklow and be resident on site.
The project involves a 0.8km long road improvement scheme at Chapel Road, Delgany/Greystones to widen the existing public road and provide improved cycle and pedestrian facilities, and improved crossing facilities and cross-section. The proposed Works include several accommodation / boundary works requiring interactions with landowners and service providers. The works are currently on-going, approximately 50% complete, and due to complete in May 2026.
Key Roles And Responsibilities
Reporting to a Director/Team Leader, oversee and be responsible for inspections, technical matters on site, delegated contract matters, assisting the Employer and Employer’s Representative, liaising with the Contractor, representing DBFL on the project, undertaking public liaison and managing stakeholders including landowners and service providers.
Supervise a second resident engineer.
Excellent communication skills and verbal and written English.
Previous experience as a Senior Resident Engineer / Resident Engineer role, for similar road / road improvement / infrastructure projects.
Experienced in Contract Administration – Public Works Contract.
Clear understanding of roads projects including application of TII Publications / DMRB (Specification for Roadworks, Traffic Signs Manual etc).
Experience in the specification of civil engineering materials.
Ability to interpret tender documents and drawings and review and organise large amounts of information.
Strong numerical skills and problem‑solving abilities.
Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety Legislation and Regulations / experience in monitoring Contractor compliance.
Strong leadership and collaboration qualities.
Monitor and report on works being carried out onsite, prepare technical reports and presentations.
Monitoring materials incorporated into the permanent work, workmanship, and testing in accordance with the Works Requirements.
Undertake delegated contract administration duties.
Informing the employer’s representative, employer and designer of issues arising on site.
Reviewing and commenting on contractor documentation.
Liaise with landowners in relation to accommodation and boundary works.
Liaise and knowledge of dealing with third party utilities / service providers and stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications And Requirements
At least 10 years post qualification civil engineering experience.
Minimum Level 8 Civil Engineering Degree (Hons).
Ideally Chartered status with Engineers Ireland or equivalent.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Computer Skills MS Office Suite, AutoCAD.
HS training Safe pass.
Customer focused with excellent client relationship management skills.
Self‑motivated.
A current driver’s licence is essential.
