We have maintained this purpose by attracting the very best talent to meet the evolving needs of our Members and customers.About the Role:As a Risk Advisor within IPB, you will get to work very closely with our Members, namely; local authorities and education and training boards (ETB's) throughout the country on diverse and wide-ranging services they provide. The Risk Advisor role is to protect and safeguard the interests of our Members through advice, ongoing support and facilitation. This involves identifying and recommending how they might address the significant risks to achieving their objectives, facilitating workshops and supporting the embedding of management systems in member organisations, presenting at seminars and conferences, and developing step by step guides to managing governance, risk and compliance challenges. Essentially, you will have the opportunity to work across a number of sectors including financial services (insurance), local government (roads, planning, housing, Cyber etc), education (schools, training centres, third level institutions) and more.Fitness and ProbityThis is a Regulated Role and will be subject to enhanced pre-employment screening procedures. There will be an ongoing requirement for the role holder to maintain fit and proper status.To be successful in the role you will be accountable for:Providing expert guidance to reduce risk and prevent claims, supporting informed decision-making across the organisation by offering tailored advice, identifying potential exposures, and recommending proactive mitigation strategies that align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.Helping to create and update easy-to-use tools and resources-like checklists, guides, and templates-that support good risk management. Ensuring these materials are practical, based on real evidence, and tailored to meet the needs of our members and clients.Supporting good governance by helping to put risk management processes into everyday work whilst ensuring these processes follow best practice.Representing IPB Insurance in national forums, sharing insights, and building strong relationships to help improve risk management and claims outcomes.Participating in audits, data collection, and cross-functional projects to ensure compliance and continuous improvement in risk management activities.Contributing to projects across the company by bringing a risk aware perspective and supporting improvements that align with the performance objectives of the Risk Management team.What we're looking for:A minimum level 8 qualification in Governance, Risk and Compliance, Engineering, Information Security, Health and Safety or Insurance.Experience in identifying and addressing significant risk to achieving organisational objectives in areas such as cyber risk, data protection, safety and environmental protection, child safeguarding.Experience in roles such as governance, compliance, assurance, audit, legal would be especially useful.Experience developing and implementing risk frameworks, tools, and policies.Experience working in or with public sector, local government, or not-for-profit organisations is highly advantageous.Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with experience producing risk assessments, impact analyses, or mitigation strategies.Excellent drafting and presentation skills, with the ability to convey information clearly to large/small groups in person and virtually.Exceptional communication and collaborative skills with the ability to build strong working relationships.Applicants must hold a full clean driver's licence and have the use of a personal car, as nationwide travel is required.Familiarity with regulatory risk requirements and relevant standards (e.g., ISO 31000, COSO, public sector risk guidelines) is beneficial.Understanding of insurance, claims trends, or liability risk in a public services context is beneficial.What you'll get:You'll work with unique insurance products, evaluate risks, and develop strategies to mitigate them.
