Finance Manager / Commercial Finance Reports to: CEO, Glasslyn Veterinary Job purpose The Finance Manager is the main liaison between the outsourced finance function and the Glasslyn management team. The role provides financial analysis, insights and operational support to drive efficiency, profitability and strategic decision-making. It bridges finance and operations by analysing data, monitoring performance and recommending actions to optimise cost structures and improve business outcomes, while also supporting commercial finance decisions, new business opportunities and key vendor or partnership negotiations. Key responsibilities Finance business partnering Act as finance business partner to the CEO and management team, helping them understand timely financial data to drive operational and commercial decision-making. Prepare analysis and packs for board meetings and management meetings. Work collaboratively as part of the wider team. Commercial mindset As understanding of the business develops, play an active role in identifying and progressing new commercial opportunities, including new leases, practices or partnership opportunities to grow Glasslyn Vets. Financial analysis and reporting Analyse operational and financial data to identify trends, variances and improvement opportunities. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow analysis. Conduct variance analysis against budgets and forecasts and provide actionable recommendations. Budgeting and forecasting Support the development of annual budgets and rolling forecasts. Collaborate with operations teams to ensure alignment between financial plans and operational goals. Operational support Partner with cross-functional teams (sales, procurement, logistics) to monitor key operational metrics. Provide analytical support for projects, cost-optimisation initiatives and process improvements. Oversee day-to-day financial queries from clinic managers and staff, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication. Monitor daily cash-flow movements, payment runs and working-capital requirements to support smooth operational delivery. Risk, compliance and controls Ensure adherence to internal controls, accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS) and regulatory requirements in partnership with the external finance provider. Assist with internal and external audits. Maintain a Risk Register for the organisation and review it quarterly. Systems and process improvement Use ERP and BI tools (e.g. SAGE) for data analysis and reporting. Identify and implement automation opportunities to streamline financial processes. Qualifications and skills Education Qualified or part-qualified accountant, with a finance degree and/or professional certification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA). Experience 45 years experience in financial analysis, preferably gained in audit, operations and/or a similar commercial environment. Technical skills Advanced Excel and financial-modelling skills.
