Apprentice QC Technician
Location: Piercetown, Dunboyne, Co. Meath
An exciting opportunity to join Ireland's leading independent manufacturer of concrete and bituminous construction materials. We are currently hiring QC Technicians to join our team at our construction materials testing facility in Dunboyne, Co. Meath.
This is a junior role within our technical department. This position is suited to secondary school graduates, early careers applicants, and individuals seeking to change careers. Materials testing experience is not required, as all successful applicants will receive full training on testing methods and product specifics. Candidates will initially shadow experienced colleagues to gain the necessary skills.
By applying for this role, you are expressing interest in registering as a Laboratory Technician Apprentice in September 2025, which will allow you to obtain a QQI Level 6 Certificate.
Responsibilities
* Carry out physical testing of building materials such as aggregates (sand, stone, gravel), ready-mix concrete, concrete blocks, paving blocks/flags, and bituminous materials used in road making. These materials are tested for size conformity and strength.
* Collect and prepare material samples for testing.
* Maintain accurate records of all test results in accordance with quality control standards.
* Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accurate results.
* Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
* Participate in on-the-job learning as part of the Laboratory Analyst Apprenticeship.
Skills Required
* Willingness to perform physical work related to sampling and testing.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to follow testing procedures accurately.
* Good written and record-keeping skills.
* Proficiency with IT equipment and software.
* Keen interest in laboratory work and quality control.
