Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and evaluating energy-related projects to enhance energy efficiency and reduce costs during the design, construction, and refurbishment stages of buildings.

You will leverage advanced software tools such as IES Virtual Environment (VE) to produce thermal models and simulations to ensure regulatory compliance, particularly with Building Regulations Part L.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on impactful sustainability projects.

Key Responsibilities:

* Create detailed thermal models and perform energy simulations using IES VE.
* Produce energy calculations, heating analysis, and determine building thermal loads.
* Conduct non-domestic BER assessments and produce BER upgrade reports to help clients achieve high energy ratings (A/B).
* Provide Part L and NZEB compliance advice across a range of projects.
* Conduct on-site energy surveys and inspections.
* Design and specify energy retrofit systems.
* Perform glint and glare and daylight analyses using IES VE.
* Collaborate with MEP engineers and project teams to ensure energy targets are achieved.

Requirements

A minimum Degree in Building Services Engineering or a related discipline (Sustainability, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil/Structural) with additional qualifications in Energy/Sustainability is required.

At least 3 years of experience as a Sustainability Engineer, preferably within a consultancy environment, is necessary.

1–2 years of hands-on experience with IES VE for thermal modelling is desirable.

Familiarity with mechanical and electrical systems design and Building Regulations (including Part L and Part F) is essential.

Experience with NEAP, thermal comfort, daylight analysis, and heating/cooling calculations is advantageous.

Working towards Chartered status or professional membership (e.g., Engineers Ireland) is a plus.

Skills and Qualifications:

* Solid understanding of Irish Building Regulations and energy efficiency legislation.
* Proficiency in BER assessments (domestic and non-domestic).
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Familiarity with CIBSE, BS, IS, and EN standards.
* Excellent problem-solving abilities and IT skills.
* Strong interpersonal and teamwork capabilities.
* Commercial awareness and a proactive mindset.
