At the Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS), our mission is simple but powerful: to ensure that blood and blood products are always there when hospitals and patients need them most.
Now, we are looking for a leader who can help us take that mission to the next level. We are seeking a Director of Donor Experience & Collections, someone with the vision, empathy, and strategic drive to lead our national donor operations, inspire teams across Ireland, and reimagine how we connect with donors in an ever-changing world.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive and serving as a member of the Executive Management Team, this senior leadership role is responsible for the blood-in supply chain from donor attraction and retention to the efficient, safe, and high-quality collection of blood and blood components. The Director will play a pivotal role in achieving IBTSs national goals by implementing innovative donor engagement strategies, optimising collection operations, and leading cultural and operational transformation. This is a high-impact, visible role at the heart of the Irish health system ideal for an inspiring and strategic leader who thrives in complex, mission-driven environments.
The Ideal Candidate
You are an experienced, strategic leader who combines operational excellence with empathy and innovation.
Essential:
* A relevant third-level qualification (business, operations management, marketing, life sciences, or equivalent).
* Minimum 10 years post-graduate experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role in a regulated or complex operational environment.
* Proven ability to lead multi-site teams through transformational change and deliver measurable results.
* Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels, including Board and public audiences.
* Strong commercial, analytical, and strategic acumen.
Desirable:
* A postgraduate qualification (MBA, EMBA, MSc, or PhD).
* Experience in GMP/GDP environments or the use of LEAN methodologies.
* Media and/or public relations experience
Salary and Closing Date
The salary scale attached to the post is the Head of Function/Service scale €112,941 to €131,764 (incl. LSI) pro rata per annum. Entry point onto the salary scale is dependent upon relevant experience.

Citizen Requirements
Eligible candidates must be:
* a) A citizen of the European Economic Area (EEA) EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway
* b) A citizen of United Kingdom (UK)
* c) A citizen of Switzerland in regards to the agreement between the EU and Switzerland on the movement of people
* d) A non-EEA citizen who has a stamp 4 visa
* e) A person awarded international protection under the International Protection Act 2015, or any family member entitled to remain in the State as a result of family reunification and has a stamp 4 visa
* f) A non-EEA citizen who is a parent of a dependant child who is a citizen of and resident in an EEA member state if the UK or Switzerland and has a stamp 4 visa.
To qualify candidates must meet one of the citizenship criteria above and produce formal supporting evidence of same, by the date of any job offer.
