Director of Nursing Role at Mowlam Healthcare Services

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Director of Nursing to lead our team at St Colmcille's Nursing Home. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality care to our residents, while also managing the day-to-day operations of the home.


Main Responsibilities

1. Quality of Care
* Ensure delivery of highest standards of nursing and social care meeting individual needs of each resident.
* Implement Company Quality of Care System.
* Maintain clinical practice in line with regulations and standards.
* Monitor clinical practice through individualized plans of care.
* Conduct internal audits and follow up on results.
* Initial induction of staff and ongoing training and development.
* Encourage innovative practice.
* Ensure implementation and adherence to Company and HIQA standards, procedures, and guidelines.
2. Financial Administration
* Maintain administrative procedures in absence of Administrator.
* Monitor administrative procedures.
* Knowledge of residents' fee income, funding source, fee arrears, personal allowance, and financial records.
* Manage Community Units budget.
* Understand legislative requirements regarding financial affairs of mentally impaired people.
3. General Management
* Conduct regular communication meetings with all clinical staff.
* Establish good rapport with external community agencies.
* Liaise with Marketing to maximize opportunities to ensure Home has high profile in local community.
* Monitor all complaints ensuring documentation includes investigation and outcome.
4. Environment
* Implement Company Health and Safety Policy to safeguard safety and welfare of staff, residents, and others.
* Implement regular fire training and evacuation plans.
* Ensure catering meets HACCP standards and is of highest quality and variety.
* Ensure hygiene and cleanliness of home is to highest standard.
* Ensure preventative maintenance programme is in place and implemented.
5. Human Resources Function
6. Participate in selection and interviewing of staff.
7. Conduct regular training needs analysis.
8. Ensure HR practices within Home comply with all current employment legislation.
9. Ensure all registered nurses employed in Home are on
