Saint John of God Community Services CLG, Kerry Services provides a wide range of programmes and supports to adults and children with an intellectual disability in the Kerry region.
The Service is committed to enhancing the dignity and quality of life of each individual in keeping with the Order's Core Values and with the continuing development and refinement of person centred, community based and inclusive services and supports.
We are currently recruiting for a qualified Chef to cater for our residents and staff of Saint Mary of the Angles, Beaufort.
The role is day time hours 8.00 - 16:30 with shifts 5 out of 7 days per week.
This is a 3 Year Fixed Term position.
Requirements for role: Candidate must be a Qualified Chef who have obtained a Professional Cookery award at minimum Level 6 on National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) or equivalent maintained by the Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) Minimum of 4 years experience working in a commercial kitchen environment.
Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability and professional knowledge to cater for specific dietary requirements of the residents.
Hospital catering or other similar residential care setting experience is an advantage.
Professional Responsibilities and Duties are as follows: Responsibility for the production, presentation and service of food to a high standard.
In consultation with the Catering Supervisor, ensuring the provision of a wide and varied choice of menu whilst controlling and minimising wastage.
To cater, as required, for the special needs and dietary requirements of clients.
To maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene within the kitchen and dining room to incorporate tables, chairs, surface areas etc.
To ensure that wash up after meals is carried out to the highest possible standard and that the kitchen area is left clean before finishing duty each day.
To ensure that food of a high quality is presented in a professional manner to clients, visitors and staff.
To receive food deliveries to the Centre and maintain accurate records of same.
To ensure that the HACCP system of quality is fully implemented and to support the ongoing development of this system.
To ensure that all records are signed and retained in respect of the HACCP system.
To keep abreast of developments in the Catering Industry and to comply with legal requirements and recognised codes of practice.
To report to your Supervisor any deficiency or irregularity which may have been observed.
To wear the uniform provided including appropriate hair covering at all times.
To liaise with the Catering Supervisor in regard to establishing comprehensive systems for the ordering and checking in of all goods, and in the planning, costing of menus, portion control and stores requisitions.
To ensure that all requirements in relation to good safety practices and procedures are complied with.
To participate in staff development and in-service training relevant to the post as may be organised from time to time.
Any other duties relevant to the post as may be allocated by the Catering Supervisor or designated person.
To be fully familiar with the terms of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act and adhere to the provisions and requirements as detailed in Saint John of God Kerry Services Safety statement and to be acquainted with the location, procedure and use of emergency equipment.
