Purchasing Manager (Food Industry)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Purchasing Manager to oversee and optimize the procurement of raw materials, ingredients, packaging, and other Purchasing Manager will play a critical role in ensuring cost-effective sourcing, maintaining quality and safety standards, managing vendor relationships, and supporting continuous improvement in supply chain efficiency.
Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, and manage procurement strategies aligned with company goals and food safety regulations.
* Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers for ingredients, packaging materials, and operational supplies.
* Monitor market trends, pricing, and availability to ensure competitive purchasing decisions.
* Ensure compliance with food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, USDA, HACCP, ISO, GFSI).
* Maintain strong vendor relationships, evaluate supplier performance, and resolve issues related to quality, delivery, or service.
* Collaborate with production, quality assurance, R&D, and logistics teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials and supplies.
* Manage and optimize inventory levels to reduce waste, minimize shortages, and support production schedules.
* Track, analyze, and report key procurement metrics such as cost savings, supplier performance, and budget adherence.
* Lead and mentor the purchasing team, promoting professional development and best practices.
* Continuously seek opportunities to improve procurement processes, cost control, and supply chain resilience.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Food Science, or related field
* Proven experience (5+ years) in purchasing or supply chain management within the food or beverage industry.
* Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, sourcing strategies, and supplier management.
* Familiarity with food industry standards, compliance requirements, and quality control processes.
* Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
* Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
