Job Overview

The Role
To provide in a day service location clinical nursing skills in supporting people with an intellectual disability in achieving optimum levels of independence. To work as part of a team to ensure a high quality of service is delivered to people supported. To exhibit and maintain the highest quality of nursing practice and apply your skills to ensure the physical, social and emotional needs of the people supported in our care are addressed at all times. Be responsible for the provision of nursing care and also be an informed resource for educating and upskilling support workers and family members to the benefit of the people supported.

Team Leader / Service Co‑ordinator / Area Manager.
Qualifications / Experience
 * A current Live Register Certificate from An Bord Altranais, RNID/RPN qualification is an advantage.
 * One year’s experience working with people with an Intellectual Disability is an essential requirement of the post.
 * A full clean manual Irish Driving Licence (Class B) is an essential requirement of this post.

 * The ability to work independently while recognising when to seek support from interdisciplinary colleagues as appropriate.
 * Patience, flexibility, creativity and eagerness to become involved in a range of activities.
 * The ability to educate and upskill colleagues and family members in positive health promotion needs.
 * The successful candidate will be required to cooperate in a team environment with a person‑centred philosophy, participate in person‑centred planning, individual reviews, and team meetings. Also they will attend and participate in training courses, and actively contribute to team based performance management.
Working Hours
75 hours a fortnight based on a 5‑day work rota. The successful candidate will be required to work in a day service location with an occasional requirement to cover night duty. Flexibility will be required in order to meet service needs. A commitment to providing Senior Person cover within the service is an essential requirement of this post.
Annual Leave
24 days per annum. Appropriate service‑related leave will be granted after 5 and 10 years of service respectively.
Remuneration
Department of Health Staff Nurse salary scale €37,288 per annum x 11 increments – €53,873 (Maximum of the scale) per annum. Long Service Increment €55,477 per annum is granted after 3 years on the maximum of the scale.
Department of Health Enhanced Nurse salary scale €44,311 per annum x 7 increments – €55,644 (Maximum of the scale) per annum. Long Service Increment (LSI) €57,273 per annum is granted after 3 years on the maximum of the scale.
Tenure
This post is permanent full‑time and pensionable.
Probation
A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the Employer’s discretion.
