OverviewThe Opportunity: We are seeking an experienced and proactive Resident Engineer to lead the delivery of a major water pipeline construction project in Donegal. This is a site-based role acting as the client’s representative, providing oversight throughout all phases of the works and ensuring construction activities meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance.You will supervise contractors, monitor progress against programme milestones, and ensure works are executed in accordance with Irish standards, specifications, and contractual requirements. You will maintain strong communication between stakeholders, resolve on-site challenges, and ensure efficient delivery that meets the client’s expectations.This role is suited to a detail-oriented professional with strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to delivering infrastructure projects that meet regulatory and quality benchmarks.
Responsibilities
Supervise contractors and monitor site activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and contractual requirements.
Oversee installation of water pipelines and booster pumping stations, including associated excavation, reinstatement, and testing works.
Maintain accurate and detailed daily site records for progress tracking and reporting, in line with contract documentation (including PW-CF4).
Coordinate regularly with contractors, local authorities, utility providers, Uisce Éireann, and affected landowners to facilitate smooth project delivery and resolve on-site issues.
Support health and safety practices, environmental controls, and quality assurance procedures across all activities.
Assist with design-related queries, carry out inspections, and contribute to commissioning activities and handover documentation to support project close-out.
Qualifications
Experienced Civil or Environmental Engineer with a strong background in delivering water or civil infrastructure projects in Ireland.
Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing site activities, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring high standards across safety, quality, and compliance.
