Job Description Summary We are seeking an experienced leader to head our Mechanical, Electrical and Embedded Software Engineers within the Hardware and Device Engineering group. This function supports the development of life sciences diagnostic and analysis instruments, interventional systems, and infusion pumps. The role requires strategic vision, people leadership, and technical expertise to ensure delivery of high-quality, compliant, and innovative products. As a member of the site leadership team, you will play a central role in shaping and implementing key initiatives that drive both local and global impact. Main responsibilities will include: Define and implement strategic direction for engineering teams while ensuring alignment with business objectives Develop and mentor team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement Oversee planning, estimation, budgeting, and risk analysis to enhance predictability and efficiency Introduce and apply industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and lean product development principles Drive standardisation and reuse across projects to optimise design quality, cost, and timelines Lead technical reviews, ensuring robust designs that meet performance, manufacturability, and serviceability standards Initiate and implement improvement projects to strengthen product reliability and lifecycle management Collaborate with multi-functional leaders to deliver integrated product solutions from concept through to production and service About you: Strong background in mechanical, electronic, or embedded software engineering with at least a BSc in a recognised engineering field (MSc preferred). Minimum 15 years of experience leading engineering product development teams or managing a functional group of engineers. Skilled in building and scaling teams, including the ability to manage managers, coach and mentor talent, and build high-performing teams. Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, apply risk-based decision-making, and deliver reliable, customer-focused solutions Experience leading initiatives to drive organizational development and foster business growth in a manufacturing or product-focused setting. Our target base salary range for this role is between €125,000 and €140,000 per year, complemented by a competitive bonus structure and a comprehensive benefits package At BD, we prioritize on-site collaboration because we believe it fosters creativity, innovation, and effective problem-solving, which are essential in the fast-paced healthcare industry.
