Workshop Buyer
To ensure the activities in the purchasing function are carried out efficiently, ensuring items are ordered and supplied to specification within the required project time scale, taking a proactive approach.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure cost-effective purchase of goods and services on the basis of price, quality, and timely delivery.
2. Negotiate pricing and other terms with suppliers to improve the cost base and deliver savings.
3. Expedite supplier deliveries and negotiate with suppliers to achieve improvement on lead times.
4. Keep up-to-date material prices for costing and estimating purposes.
5. Manage stock levels accurately and ensure all materials are available when required by the business.
6. Produce reports and statistics using computer-based programs.
7. Compile Cost Comparison Report for the monthly board meeting.
8. Control administration of Joinery Production Sheets.
9. Build and maintain a strong network of suppliers to secure best pricing and terms.
10. Raise Purchase Orders for raw materials and component parts.
11. Process payments and invoices.
12. Identify and assess new vendors.
13. Complete supplier reviews, monitoring and reporting on supplier delivery and quality performance.
14. Attend relevant meetings as required.
15. Maintain accurate contract files and purchasing data for full traceability and future reference.
16. Participate in and support Company initiatives with compliance of procedures and requirements for ISO and 45001 standards.
17. Perform any other duties required for the effective operation of the post as deemed by Management.
Experience:
* A minimum of 2 years recent relevant experience in a Buying role within the construction industry.
* Experience using a Purchase Order Processing system (POP) or Sage.
* Good oral and written communication, analytical skills.
* Strong time management with the ability to organise and prioritise work to meet deadlines.
* Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
* Ability to work on own initiative.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office.
