Essential Requirements
* EU or UK citizenship or existing right to work in Ireland
* Recognised trade qualification as an HGV / Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
* Minimum 3 years' experience working on HGV trucks
* Proven experience working on Scania vehicles
* Strong diagnostic and electrical fault-finding experience
* Experience using manufacturer diagnostic systems
* Good level of English, both written and spoken
* Full HGV driving licence (Category C or CE preferred)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Scania HGV Truck Mechanic to join a well-established commercial vehicle workshop in Roscommon. This role is suited to a skilled technician who takes pride in high standards of workmanship and is confident working independently within a structured workshop environment.
You will be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing Scania heavy goods vehicles to manufacturer standards while ensuring efficiency, safety, and accuracy in all tasks.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out servicing and repairs in line with Scania manufacturer standards
* Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment
* Complete work as outlined on job cards accurately and efficiently
* Liaise with the parts department to ensure timely access to required components
* Inform the workshop foreman or manager if additional work is required
* Conduct road testing to ensure vehicles are safe and fully operational before release
* Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
* Attend internal and manufacturer training as required
Qualifications & Experience
* Qualified HGV Technician with relevant trade certification
* Minimum 3 years' hands-on experience with heavy goods vehicles
* Strong knowledge of Scania systems and diagnostics
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
