This strategic role focuses on managing large-demand customer connections to the Distribution System and will play a key part in shaping the future of ESB Networks and the energy industry.The successful candidate will act as a central point of contact throughout the customer connection application process, liaising with both internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure timely and effective customer connections. The role includes attending customer meetings to provide updates, address technical and commercial queries, and develop strong working relationships.A strong understanding of both electrical and civil infrastructure requirements for customer connections is essential, alongside the ability to evaluate and apply appropriate charging methodologies in line with regulatory frameworks. The role also includes the resolution of stakeholder issues, support for IT system development, and contribution to the enhancement of enduring commercial and regulatory processes.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide expert support in facilitating connection applications for new and existing large demand customers to the electricity distribution networkAct as a central point of contact for external stakeholders, including large demand customers, ensuring consistent updates and transparent communication throughout the connection processProvide customers with detailed technical data on the civil and electrical infrastructure required for their connection, including analysis of customer-specific requirementsCollaborate with internal teams, including Network Development Planning and Delivery teams, to manage applications through all stages of the connection lifecycleAnalyse electrical infrastructure requirements and determine the components necessary to deliver customer connectionsCalculate connection charges in accordance with established commercial policies and prepare and issue formal connection offers, securing appropriate internal approvalsRepresent the Commercial Team in cross-functional projects and working groups, including SAP enhancements, online application development, charging policy updates, and regulatory changesExperience and QualificationsEssential3rd level qualification or equivalent work experienceMinimum of 5 years' relevant experience in a technical or engineering roleExperience of the Irish electrical network and the infrastructure required to provide customer connections to the distribution systemStrong IT skills, including experience using systems such as MS SharePoint, Excel, and PowerPointStrong stakeholder management skills when dealing with both internal and external stakeholdersKnowledge and ability to influence decision-making in relation to connection offers, charging policies, and processesStrong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skillsProven ability to manage project work, work independently, and solve complex policy issues while contributing effectively within a team•DesirableEngineering degree in Electrical or Mechanical EngineeringStrong commercial focus, including detailed understanding of the distribution system electrical networkExperience dealing with grid connection offers and modifications to connection agreementsExperience dealing directly with customers and stakeholdersExperience providing guidance and specialist support across a large organisationLocationThis position will be based in Leopardstown Road, Dublin 18.ESB is committed to smart working – combining digital tools with a culture of trust and empowerment to enable flexible ways of working.
