Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for an Automation Engineer to join a leading medical device manufacturing and R&D site focused on developing advanced medical devices, including vessel closure, endovascular, and coronary technologies.
This is a project-focused Automation Engineer role rather than a hands-on programming position.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading end-to-end automation projects from initial concept through to development and implementation within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement automation systems to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
Collaborate on project scoping, planning, and execution.
Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments.
Lead installation, testing, and commissioning of automation equipment.
Troubleshoot automation systems and software.
Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
Deliver end-user training and create technical documentation.
Stay informed on emerging automation technologies.
Requirements
NFQ Level 7 qualification (180 credits) in a relevant discipline.
5–7 years' experience in automation engineering within medical devices.
Expertise in PLC programming, HMI, SCADA, and CAD tools.
Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
