The Opportunity
Reporting to the Development Programme Manager, the Development Manager – Planning role sits as part Irish and UK development team and manage all matters relating to land, planning and grid for new projects in Ireland, the UK and other portfolios when required.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the BNRG Renewables team at a time when the utility scale solar PV industry thriving in Ireland and the UK. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for using their planning policy knowledge to proactively drive projects with multiple stakeholders. These can local landowners ESBN, Eirgrid, ABP and local planning authorities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Collaborating with the Development team and the Planning Consultants on BNRG's projects to use your planning knowledge to further BNRG's planning objectives.
* Review grid, land and planning issues for potential sites.
* Make sure that all planning submissions, appeals and RFI's are lodged in a timely manner.
* Responsible for supporting the development of utility scale PV portfolio from with a focus on the planning phases of development
* Responsible for feeding into project budget, risk management, health and safety, and quality.
* Support in the preparation of preliminary layout designs for sites identified.
* Manage progress of all potential opportunities through our digitization tools including Power BI,, Microsoft Project
* Collaborate with BNRG's legal team to put in place Head of Terms and Options for Leases for appropriate sites.
* Understand differences in substation configurations and provide value driven decisions to various internal stakeholders.
Required Experience and Knowledge
* Diploma or Degree in Planning, Development or related discipline
* 3-5 years' experience working in a Planning Role for Renewables, Residential or Infrastructure
* 1-2 years of experience in Project Management
* Enthusiasm to develop new solar farms in Ireland and the UK
* Experienced with Solar PV and construction terminology is a plus
* Desirable – experience or knowledge of the UK Planning Policy and system

How we work
This is a hybrid working role with our office working days set for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Please note that occasional travel may be required, depending on the responsibilities of the role, as a result access to own transport is required for this role.
