Job Purpose: To ensure excellence in patient care and safety during the patient perioperative phase.
Maintaining effective and efficient use of theatre time while providing clinical and professional leadership to the team.
Ideal Candidate:
ABA Registration
At least 5 years post registration experience of which 2 must be in Theatre.
A Theatre qualification is essential
Suitable management experience and /or qualification
Excellent interpersonal, leadership, accountability and communication skills
The ability to demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development at the appropriate level.
Roster will generally be over 6 days a week however a flexible approach to work patterns is required in line with service
Experience & Responsibility: To ensure maximum standards of care and safety are implemented for
the patient from the point of admission to discharge.
To maintain or improve the quality of patient care through the
application of quality assurance process.
To identify problems in patient care delivery or nursing practice and
suggest remedial action in liaison with Theatre Manager.
To demonstrate an attitude of safety consciousness in the delivery
of patient care.
Assist in maintaining the safe custody of controlled drugs in accordance with agreedpolicies and reports any discrepancies to Theatre Manager.
To ensure effective and efficient use of theatre.
To prepare and implement duty roster for theatre as necessary.
To plan with Theatre Manager, annual leave and other special leave arrangements for staff.
Deputises in Theatre Managers absence and takes responsibility for the department.
Ensure that all theatre records are accurately maintained.
To ensure all hospital procedures and policies are adhered to.
To advise on procedure policy making when theatre expertise is requested.
Essential Qualifications: The post holder will be qualified to minimum level of R.G.N.
and have 5 years Theatre Nursing experience since receiving State Registration, together with a completed recognised Theatre Course.
Management Qualification/experience required.
