It is a Centre for the promotion of Heritage, Spirituality, and Ecology. Ballygriffin consists of 33 acres of organic farm, 4 acres of woodland with self-contained accommodation and multi-purpose conference facilities.General ManagerWe are now seeking to hire a General Manager to help realise the potential of this site in a way that is consistent with the values of Nano Nagle. The General Manager's main focus will be on introducing innovative ideas and strategies to achieve this. The General Manager will report to the Board of Management which is accountable to the Congregational Leadership Team. This position requires a commitment of 30 hours per week with flexibility on hours/days.We envisage that the General Manager will build upon the site's current success by driving visitor growth through targeted marketing and promotional strategies, while identifying new avenues for public engagement with Ballygriffin. This may include new initiatives such as festivals, guided walking tours, organic farming activities, and making greater use of the accommodation and conferencing facilities.Key responsibilities will include:Develop and implement a 3-year strategic plan and financial budget to support the maintenance and promotion of the Centre and its grounds.Provide regular reporting and progress tracking against strategic and financial objectives.Engage proactively with the local community to foster partnerships and secure support for projects, programmes, and initiatives that benefit both the Centre and the wider region.Identify and deliver key marketing and promotional initiatives that drive the success of the three-year plan and align with the organisation's pillars of Heritage, Spirituality, and Ecology.Ownership of all aspects of Facilities management including optimisation of use and maintenance of all existing facilities.Manage all operational, financial, and administrative functions to ensure compliance with governance standards and adherence to best practice.Manage support team, including volunteers, to ensure optimal performance management in compliance with employment legislation.Ensure full compliance with Health and Safety policies, procedures, reporting and statutory obligations.Coordinate programme offerings, including those delivered by the resident Sisters, to enhance engagement and reflect the Centre's mission and values.The candidate:Proven leadership with 5+ years' experience in a General Management role, ideally within a community-focused, tourism, or hospitality setting.Strategic thinker with a track record of developing and implementing long-term plans that deliver measurable outcomes and sustainable growth.Operational excellence demonstrated through effective management of facilities, resources, and budgets.Marketing expertise with evidence of designing and delivering successful campaigns that reflect organisational values and strengthen community engagement.Innovative approach to identifying, planning, and executing new initiatives that enhance the visitor experience and support local partnerships.Strong administrative and organisational skills, combined with creativity and initiative to achieve strategic goals.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels.Nano Nagle Birthplace is an equal opportunity employer.
