Excel Recruitment is delighted to partner with HSE Adult Mental Health Services in Galway to recruit Senior Psychologists. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical Psychologist to work and to contribute to high quality mental health care and play a key role in clinical decision-making and service development.
Job Purpose:
The Senior Psychologist will provide expert psychological assessment, formulation, and evidence-based interventions for adults with moderate to severe mental health difficulties. They will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing clinical leadership, supervision, and contributing to the ongoing development of service provision within their allocated area.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and risk formulations for adults with complex mental health needs
2. Provide individual, group, and family interventions based on evidence-based psychological therapies
3. Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team (psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists) to support patient care and treatment planning
4. Contribute to care planning, treatment reviews, and discharge planning for patients
5. Offer clinical supervision and guidance to junior psychologists, trainees, and other staff
6. Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation in line with HSE policies
7. Participate in service development initiatives, audits, and quality improvement projects
8. Provide consultation to other healthcare professionals and services
9. Engage in continuing professional development and maintain professional registration standards
Essential Requirements:
10. Doctorate or equivalent in Clinical/Counselling/Educational Psychology and/or Chartered Clinical/Counselling/Educational Psychologist through PSI.
11. Eligibility for registration with the Psychological Society of Ireland.
12. Proven experience in adult mental health assessment and psychological interventions
13. Experience in working within inpatient or community mental health settings highly desirable
14. Strong clinical reasoning, formulation, and risk assessment skills
15. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
16. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
17. Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice
18. Ability to work autonomously and manage a varied caseload.
19. Full driver's license and access to a car.
