Offaly Traveller Movement is a Traveller led community development organisation working to achieve full equality for the Traveller community throughout County Offaly. With a team of 38 staff made up of Travellers and non-Travellers we offer programmes and services in health promotion, mental health, accommodation, youth and education to advance the health and welfare of Travellers and to encourage active participation in society. We provide opportunities for Travellers to develop their skills and knowledge and working in partnership to build the community's and service providers' capacity to meet the needs of and improve outcomes for Travellers. We support Travellers to reach their full potential and develop initiatives to tackle poverty, social exclusion, disadvantage and discrimination. OTM also contributes to the development of local and national policy for positive outcomes in the lives of Travellers.
Purpose of the Role:
Help shape the future of Traveller mental health in Ireland. The Training Coordinator for Mincéirs Tairien (Travellers Talking) will lead a ground breaking, culturally specific initiative developed
by
Travellers
for
Travellers. The programme aims to empower Traveller communities to take control of their mental health, build resilience and strengthen self-esteem through culturally responsive, recovery-focused approaches. The role supports sustainability, national expansion and systemic change by ensuring Traveller voices remain at the centre of mental health education and support.
Nature of the Post
* Type: Part-time, 25 hours per week
* Salary: €43, pro rata for 25 hours: €31,421.00)
This is a fixed-term position as part of a three-year project, funded for a full three-year period.
Direction & Accountability
The post holder will report to the Travelling to Wellbeing Senior Social Worker.
The main duties and responsibilities will include:
Education Programme Development & Delivery
* Design and implement the Mincéirs Tairien mental health process tailored for Traveller communities.
* Develop training materials to reflect best practices and culturally inclusive mental health education.
* Facilitate workshops introducing mental health, wellbeing, and resilience concepts.
* Support participants in creating personal action plans for mental health and wellbeing
* Develop online learning assets including presentations, toolkits, videos and e-learning modules
* Develop a Train the Trainer manual to support national replication of the programme.
* Gather and analyse learner feedback and outcome data to continuously improve programme quality and effectiveness.
* Provide data, knowledge, insights and case studies to support evaluation and reporting requirements.
Teamwork and Capacity Building:
* Provide ongoing support and mentorship to peer facilitators
* Work closely with the Travelling to Wellbeing team to ensure coordinated and high-quality delivery
* across the organisation
* Manage education resources efficiently, ensuring KPIs and budgetary targets are met.
* Maintain accurate records, monitoring data and reports.
Programme Expansion:
* Contribute to the development of a strategy for national rollout of the programme.
* Actively promote the Mincéirs Tairien programme within the Traveller community through digital platforms, social media and community events
* Collaborate with internal teams, Traveller organisations and mental health services to expand the programmes reach, profile and impact among Traveller communities and mainstream services.

Person Specification
The successful candidate will be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team and will demonstrate the following:
Essential Criteria:
* Experience working with the Traveller Community and a strong understanding of Traveller Culture
* Experience in mental health, education, community health, or a related field.
* Experience delivering and coordinating adult education programmes.
* Excellent presentation, facilitation and communication skills.
* Experience developing course materials and learning resources.
* Strong planning, organisational and time-management skills
* Willingness to travel nationally and work occasional evenings where required.
Desirable:
* Qualifications in mental health recovery or a related area
* Understanding of trauma-informed and inclusive education approaches.
* Experience of evaluation, monitoring and impact measurement.
