The Role – Senior Mechanical Engineer
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will take full ownership of mechanical building services design across a range of energy and industrial projects.
Working within a multidisciplinary consultancy environment, you will lead projects from concept through to completion, ensuring high standards of quality, compliance and delivery.
This role focuses on base-build and building services design including HVAC, ventilation, heating and utilities systems within complex facilities.
You will play a key role in client engagement, technical leadership and mentoring junior engineers while managing multiple project deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
Lead mechanical building services design from concept through to handover
Deliver HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling and utility system designs
Coordinate with architectural, structural, electrical and process teams
Manage programme timelines and ensure deliverables meet project milestones
Oversee design quality, compliance and technical standards across projects
Prepare detailed tender packages, technical reports and specifications
Support construction phases through site visits and technical queries
Ensure compliance with CIBSE, ASHRAE, BS, IS and EN standards; design for regulated environments including cleanrooms and ATEX areas
Attend and lead client and design team meetings
Mentor and review work of junior and intermediate engineers
About You
Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
7+ years' experience in mechanical building services or MEP design
Strong background within a building services consultancy environment
Experience delivering projects in energy, industrial or commercial sectors
Knowledge of HVAC and mechanical systems design for complex buildings
Understanding of ATEX environments and regulated facility requirements
Familiar with industry standards including CIBSE and ASHRAE
Strong communication and client-facing skills
Proven ability to lead projects and mentor engineering teams
Highly organised with strong attention to detail and deadlines
