Senior Scientist (Chemistry), Chemical Development Location: Dublin Competitive Salary and Benefits Accountabilities As a Senior Scientist, you will be responsible for supporting the technical contribution to transfer, maintain and optimise supply for one or more Astra Zeneca commercial products.
You will identify, develop and implement process improvements for both launch and commercial products through the use of existing and cutting-edge technologies.
You will also provide expert technical input through laboratory experimentation, in-silico modelling and direct manufacturing support at our internal AZ API manufacturing site in Dublin.
Your role will also involve contribution to the CMC components of regulatory submissions and preparation of successful query responses over the commercial life of a product.
Essential Skills/Experience BSc/Ph D level education in a relevant discipline and experience working within a Research & Development or Manufacturing environment, within the pharmaceutical industry.
Technical expertise and understanding of practical synthetic organic chemistry spanning across both lab and manufacture.
Experience in the Tech Transfer of pharmaceutical small molecule Drug Substance processes Background in dealing with the challenges of both the scale up and scale down of processes A good understanding of the overall drug development process from discovery through to launch.
A thorough understanding of the principles and management of SHE and c GMP.
Excellent communication and strategic influencing skills across interfaces of discipline, culture, and expertise both internally and externally.
Proven problem solver with in depth technical skills.
Proficiency in the use of statistics to understand data.
Ability to think and operate across functional boundaries, challenge the status quo and seek opportunities for business improvement.
Desirable Skills/Experience Experience of delivering CMC content or contributions to regulatory filings throughout the life cycle of process development, in the pharmaceutical industry.
Experience working within a Research & Development and Manufacturing environment in the pharmaceutical industry Experience of technical supervision and leading small teams of people or scientific projects.
Experience of late stage development or commercial supply with a background in a process chemistry skill group Experience of working across skillsets (e.g.
with chemists, analysts and physical properties experts).
