The Safety Engineer manages the establishment, implementation, and maintenance of a safe, accident-free, healthy work environment, compliant with all applicable EHS regulations and company policies and procedures. This position is a 12-months fixed term contract.
Key Responsibilities
1. Conduct JSAs, risk assessments and assist in machine safety assessments across all site operations.
2. Support the team in EHS management and execution of new projects and programs.
3. Provide direction and advice to site management in the area of national and EU safety legislation, relevant machinery safety standards and best available techniques.
4. Provide EHS expertise for change management process, including review and approval of equipment and machinery modifications from EHS perspective.
5. Provide technical safety input to the design and construction of new facilities, automation lines and process equipment.
6. Design and implement corporate safety systems with specific emphasis on process safety management, process hazards analysis, industrial hygiene, risk assessment, accident and injury reporting, and change control.
7. Develop and implement site occupational health programs.
8. Lead and where required support the investigation of EHS incidents/accidents, recommend and drive corrective and preventive actions.
9. Participate in the development and implementation of site security protocols and procedures.
10. Participate in pre-start-up safety reviews, internal and external auditing, site safety inspections and walkdowns.
11. Assist the team with the development, documentation and implementation of safe systems of work for manufacturing and maintenance operations.
12. Support the development and implementation of key EHS programs in line with legislation/best practice and deliver appropriate EHS training to personnel onsite.
13. Promote and support positive and proactive safety culture through engagement with employees and relevant stakeholders.
14. Achieve a series of effective EHS KPIs for the site and maintain compliance.
15. Participate and support emergency response and business continuity planning.
16. Support company quality programs and initiatives.
17. Ensure ongoing compliance with GMP in all practices, recording of events and processes.
18. Ensure compliance with all learnings from all GMP training events.
19. Other responsibilities may be assigned from time to time as needed, based on the evolution of the company and the requirements of the department/position.
Qualifications and Experience:
20. Degree qualified in Automation, Electrical or Process Engineering essential
21. Minimum of Level 6 Certificate in Health & Safety from an accredited institution or Tech IOSH certification, or proven experience in process safety
22. Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a GMP production environment, preferably in medical, pharma or technology sector.
23. Experience in carrying out ergonomic, chemical and occupational noise assessments is highly desirable
