OverviewDescriptionPosition: Software - Embedded System EngineerLocation: Waterford, WIJob Type: Full-time, Hybrid (3 days in office and 2 days remote)Position Overview: We're seeking a Software - Embedded System Engineer to join our engineering team and help develop innovative embedded and IoT solutions. In this role, you'll design, develop, and maintain firmware across our product portfolio, translate User Stories into working software, and integrate electronic circuit designs into embedded systems. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, contribute to architecture discussions, follow SDLC best practices, and ensure high-quality code through testing and reviews.
ResponsibilitiesParticipate as part of an engineering team developing new embedded and IoT solutions.Innovate, develop and maintain firmware for the entire portfolio of products.Review, interpret/ clarify, and implement User Stories to working firmware/ software.Review and integrate circuit designs into embedded systems, validate electronic designs and component selections.Engage in technical discussion of new solutions and architectures.Use standard methodologies to write well-designed and tested code.Adhere to coding standards/ procedures and participate in code reviews.Collaborate with the team to identify creative IoT solutions utilizing existing platform.Develop product following SDLC process including peer design/ code review.Utilize software code version control/ source management and defect management tools.Address increasingly complex technical problems and draw upon experience, analytical skills, and creative thinking to develop solutions.Perform unit testing on products before releasing to system test.Work with manufacturing and quality to develop equipment, programs, and processes to improve efficiency.
Qualifications, Skills & AbilitiesExperience with software development including firmware and embedded development, basic design ability, and third-party frameworks.Experience with C and C++.Experience with microcontrollers, preferably: STM32, PICmicro, ARM Cortex-MExperience with reading and interpreting circuit design and schematicsExperience with Industrial and Building Control Automation concept, preferably: Bacnet, LonBus, ModBus, RS232 and RS485.
