Excel Recruitment are recruiting a Staff Grade Occupational Therapist to join a supportive Community Mental Health Team based in Churchtown, with coverage extending to Dundrum and Clonskeagh.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an Occupational Therapist seeking to gain valuable experience in mental health within a well-structured HSE team. The role begins as a 6-month agency contract, with a high probability of progression into a permanent HSE position, offering stability and long-term career growth.
You will have the support of well experienced Occupational Therapist's with a wealth of expertise across general adult and specialist mental health services.

The Adult Occupational Therapy Service, provide services to the following clinical areas:
1. Community Mental Health Teams
2. Community Rehabilitation Teams
3. Psychiatry of Later Life Teams
4. Approved centre Psychiatry of later life service
5. Approved centres – acute units
6. Mental Health Intellectual Disability
7. Eating Disorder
The Occupational Therapy service currently consists of an Occupational Therapy Manager, Senior and Staff Grade Occupational Therapists as well as Occupational Therapy Assistants working across the mental health services.
Role Overview
As a Staff Grade Occupational Therapist within the Community Mental Health Team, you will:
8. Be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and review of treatment / intervention programmes for service users according to service standards.
9. Manage own caseload in accordance with the needs of the post.
10. Collaborate with service users, family, carers and other staff in treatment / intervention planning and in the provision of support and advice.
11. Plan discharge or transition of the service user between services as appropriate
12. Document all assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, reports and discharge summaries in accordance with local service and professional standards.
13. Communicate verbally and / or in writing results of assessments, treatment / intervention programmes and recommendations to the team and relevant others in accordance with service policy.
14. Attend clinics, review meetings, team meetings, case conferences, ward rounds etc. as designated by Senior Occupational Therapist / Occupational Therapist Manager.
15. Maintain quality standards of practice and participate in quality assurance and clinical audit as appropriate.
16. Maintain professional standards in relation to confidentiality, ethics and legislation.
Essential Requirements:
17. BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy
18. CORU registration as an Occupational Therapist.
19. Previous experience in mental health desirable.
20. HSE mandatory training completed (or willingness to complete before starting)
21. Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
22. A collaborative, recovery-oriented, and person-centred approach.
23. Excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and documentation skills.
