Introduction
Indaver leads the field in sustainable waste management in Europe, with facilities and operations in Belgium, Germany, Ireland, and the Netherlands. We take a long view, which is why sustainability is at the core of our business and also our company culture. Our trademark is delivering high‑quality, cost‑effective services in the municipal, industrial, and specialist hazardous waste market across Ireland.
Our waste‑to‑energy facility in Meath is the first of its kind on the island of Ireland. We process over 220,000 t of residual waste each year and produce electricity equivalent to what powers 22,000 homes annually.
The Health & Safety Specialist role is responsible for overseeing EH&S standards within the Municipal Solid Waste business. The incumbent must ensure that all activities are managed in compliance with legislation and maintain OHSAS 18001 (ISO 45001) and ISO 14001 certification. This role leads and promotes our safety culture throughout the region and works with International Safety to align with common safety standards, championing and driving EHS policies within the existing team. This is an 18‑month fixed‑term contract.
Role & Responsibilities

Conduct regular site visits to exhibit and encourage the desired H&S attitude and a pragmatic approach to problem solving.
Manage site plans, training and awareness campaigns, monthly safety bulletins, safety alerts, toolbox talks, etc., within the safety management system and in conjunction with the H&S manager.
Prepare H&S reports and provide feedback as required by regulatory authorities and insurers (e.g., incident reports).
Ensure Emergency Response Team readiness, equipment operability, emergency contact details, required reporting, etc.
Ensure thorough investigation of significant incidents, reportable accidents, dangerous occurrences and major property damage, carried out by relevant line managers to determine root causes and prevent recurrence; assist in investigations if required.
Assist in identifying H&S training needs for employees and deliver training (e.g., manual handling, ERT).
Train and support managers and supervisors at all sites in conducting Risk Assessments to maintain a safe environment and approach for Indaver personnel and contractors, with regular spot checks.

Experience and Qualifications Required

Diploma or higher in Safety, Health & Welfare at Work.
At least 2 years’ experience in a role where H&S is a key tenet, preferably in the chemical, pharmaceutical or waste industry.
Proven record of developing, maintaining and executing H&S controls such as policies, risk assessments, procedures, manuals, checklists and tools (e.g., 10‑Force, toolbox talks, training, regional safety plans, attendance systems).
Experience working with diverse teams (process, production, maintenance, QESH) to achieve practical solutions.
Technical knowledge of specific H&S areas: confined space, permit to work, pressurised systems, lock‑out/tag‑out, excavations, electrical systems, working at height.
