Vacancy Number: 27585Category: Engineering - OtherJob Type: Full-timeThe Networks & Civil, Environmental Engineering Department (NCEE) within Engineering and Major Projects provides a range of planning, design, construction, operation & maintenance, and management services required for electricity industry infrastructure projects in Ireland.The Senior Team Leader – Water Climate and Geospatial role in the Civil Geotechnical & Water Group includes the delivery of engineering services from feasibility through construction stage of Network projects for ESB. The Team Lead will also provide mentoring and professional development of junior staff across department.Key ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities will cover the items below:Project Delivery & ComplianceFulfil PSDP roles as required under agreed procedures.Manage and co-ordinate NCEE inputs to deliver projects to approved scope, budget, and programme. Lead appraisals of existing infrastructure to ensure compliance with regulations.Technical Expertise & DesignAct as subject matter expert on hydrology and drainage technical services.Undertake drainage/hydraulic designs and calculations across various materials and structures. Critically review design submissions by others.Team Leadership & DevelopmentSet team objectives, manage performance, and ensure accountability for results.Prioritise workload within the team and balance partner expectations with resources and deadlines. Support technical development through tutoring and knowledge sharing.Quality Assurance & GovernanceBe accountable for quality assurance and auditing of team deliverables, including external consultants' work. Provide guidance on implementing Quality Procedures across NCEE, E&MP, and ESB.Strategic Resource ManagementIdentify and develop external support through Framework Agreements for consultants or contractors to deliver NCEE services.Sustainability AdvocacyPromote ESB's sustainability objectives by fostering sustainable solutions in all projects.Collaboration & Knowledge SharingDrive continuous improvement through technical development processes, tutoring, and sharing expertise across teams.Experience and QualificationsEssentialMinimum 7 years relevant post qualification experience.A demonstrated track record in the delivery of significant water/ drainage projects and/or related engineering works packages. Strong communications skills and report writing skillsA track record in leading multi-disciplinary teams, with proven ability in management of internal and external stakeholdersStrong commercial awareness with clear understanding of their project work impacts on the business case. Strong knowledge and experience of PSDP role and requirements.Critical thinking skills and judgement required to ensure significant civil risks are identified and managed on how projectsA strong ability to identify project work requirements and to initiate necessary work with limited oversight. .Level 8 Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification and chartered status in a recognised professional engineering institutionDesirableTeam management experienceExperience of the management of surface and/or ground water contamination will be an advantage.Experience in the use of FIDIC Conditions of Contract, including EPC, D&B ContractingLevel 9 Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.Full driving licence and access to a car.LocationThis role is based in EMP Dublin or Cork office but travel to project locations as required, is a key requirement of the role.ESB is committed to offering flexibility in ways of working and we call that Smart Working – combining digital tools with a culture of trust and empowerment to enable flexible and remote ways of working.The successful candidate may combine working from home within the Republic of Ireland, with attendance at base for in-person collaboration, the frequency of which is agreed with the manager and may change in line with company policy.
