Director of Heavy Maintenance and Planning
This is a confidential search for a Director of Planning and Heavy Maintenance position in North Carolina.
Job Summary:
The successful candidate will lead an industry-leading maintenance planning & scheduling team, with a strong hands-on delivery component. This role requires a production-based mindset to design, implement, and standardize new scheduling platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to achieve performance-based results.
* Develop forecasting and resource planning capability to deliver end-to-end planning, forecasting, and scheduling to meet aircraft maintenance needs.
* Provide accurate forecasting and analyze data against budget figures to optimize maintenance operations production and inventory management.
* Lead the team in developing short and long-term aircraft maintenance plans (HMV) to drive maintenance performance, HMV Check performance, planning and execution efficiencies, and aircraft availability for the network.
* Responsible for providing leadership to direct staff to ensure continuous improvement methods are incorporated to efficiently support maintenance production and daily operations.
* Develop team members for succession planning and foster a Lean Continuous Improvement mindset and skillsets.
* Identify and implement strategies to reduce overall cost and manage short-term and long-term maintenance production capacity and scheduling.
* Develop and manage reliable forecasting tools and KPIs that deliver high accuracy at monthly, weekly, and daily levels.
* Ensure all key performance metrics are achieved regarding flight arrival, departure, and completion performance while meeting company cost initiatives.
* Responsible for ensuring all required maintenance items are scheduled and issued within time limit intervals specified by the Continued Airworthy Maintenance Program (CAMP) and approved by the FAA.
* Create, update, and maintain departmental procedures in the General Maintenance Manual (GMM) and collect and analyze data for failure analysis and trending to improve team and operational performance.
* Strong experience working with MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) vendors and contracts and technically savvy to dissect maintenance requirements.
* Maintains close communications with maintenance operations regarding manpower/equipment requirements, availability, capacity, backlog, and priorities.
* Ensure the airline maintains an adequate spare count level per established plans and forecasts.
* Responsible for the Company's Security and Safety Management System (SMS) and associated Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance outputs.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Maintenance Management or related field.
* At least five years of experience leading teams within a Part 121 airline maintenance planning/scheduling organization.
* Effective leadership skills with a collaborative style.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software and ability to speak/read/write in English.
* If hired, must be able to demonstrate authorization to work in the US.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification.
* Experience using Omega (AMES) software and Maintenance and Engineering (M&E) software.
