Applications are invited for the position of Hygiene and Facilities Officer in the Facilities Department of St. Vincent’s University Hospital.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for the day‑to‑day management of all hygiene and environmental aspects under the Facilities Management remit.
Assist in ensuring the hospital complies with national and international best practice standards relating to hygiene matters.
Supervise and support the Household Team, ensuring standards of excellence are applied and maintained in all areas of Hygiene Services.
Support and monitor day‑to‑day hygiene services to maintain cleaning standards throughout the hospital campus.
Coordinate and oversee hygiene and environmental auditing across the organisation.
Participate in the monitoring and auditing of support services within the Facilities and Household remit, preparing relevant reports and statistics.
Effectively promote and communicate hygiene matters and cooperate with multidisciplinary clinical and non‑clinical teams to pursue excellent hygiene standards.
Respond appropriately to emergencies or urgent matters as they arise, managing the consequences.
Participate and add value to working groups relevant to hygiene, environment, and tendering processes.
Participate in the commissioning of new services and facilities, coordinating the provision of hygiene services in this regard.
Engage proactively in any change initiatives that improve the overall service.
Provide administrative support for the Facilities Manager as required.
Keep the Line Manager updated as appropriate.
Ensure all duties are conducted in a professional and confidential manner.
Perform any other duties that are appropriate to the position.
Liaise with the Estates Department regarding repairs and maintenance of areas identified under environmental and hygiene monitoring activities.
Lead by example.
Co‑ordinate auditing of cleaning standards throughout the hospital, providing feedback to departments and staff.
Manage and co‑ordinate household services on a day‑to‑day basis and all housekeeping matters.
Manage and co‑ordinate all hygiene‑related audit programmes across the organisation.
Report on and coordinate agreed quality improvement initiatives arising from all hygiene and facilities audit programmes.
Ensure work completed by staff or contractors in relation to facilities management and hygiene is timely.
Assist in developing cleaning specifications and matrices in line with national standards when required.
Assist in evaluating current and new cleaning products and equipment, engaging with the Facilities Manager regarding the same.
Ensure public areas and staff facilities are monitored, validated and audited, reporting as required.
Assist with the management of staff rest rooms, on‑call rooms and staff changing room facilities.
Develop and maintain administrative systems and processes supporting the facilities management department, focusing on hygiene and household services.
Provide administrative support for hygiene‑related meetings, including HHQIG and contractor review meetings.
Collate and update KPI data appropriate to hygiene and environmental responsibilities.
Develop and maintain management information systems to support operational effectiveness and decision‑making, producing timely reports as required.
Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all correspondence and departmental activities.
Promote and deliver high‑quality, flexible support to the Facilities Manager.
Regularly audit departmental activities and initiate changes and improvements designed to strengthen controls and systems.
Work closely with colleagues in facilities management and other departments to ensure high‑quality, customer‑focused service is always provided.
