About the Role
Software Development Managers on our team:
1. Lead highly technical Erlang developers who work on sophisticated distributed systems.
2. Manage a team of DevOps engineers operating a multi-clustered, large fleet of NoSQL databases.
3. Handle server budgets for our service at the core of Workday's persistent storage.
4. Provide strategic direction and ensure alignment with company goals.
5. Refine and contribute to the vision of the team, helping to shape the future of our services for Workday customers.
6. Build critical systems at scale and work closely with collaborators across multiple organizations.
7. Ensure data security, resilience, and integrity by implementing standard methodologies and compliance measures.
8. Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
About You
Basic Qualifications:
1. You have 2+ years managing development or production engineering teams of 6 - 8 software engineers.
2. You have 4+ years software design and development experience. You have used configuration management tools and procedures like Chef, LinuxOS, NoSQL, Ansible, or similar.
3. You have worked with highly distributed, highly concurrent systems, having SQL/NoSQL experience is a huge plus in technologies like RIAK, Cassandra, Hadoop, Spark, HBase, or similar.
4. You have experience with cloud object storing services (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) is highly appreciated.

1. You have excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
2. You take pride in owning your service throughout its lifecycle and always hold top of mind your service's Security and Resiliency.
3. Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
4. Self-starter, highly motivated, and ability to learn quickly.
5. Master’s in Computer Science or equivalent.
