Psychology Specialist - Medium Security Prison
This position is part of a broad multi-disciplinary team (MDT) working within a medium security prison for adult males. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and intervening with individuals who have been referred to the psychology service in relation to various mental health and criminogenic needs.
The role involves providing individualised, evidence-based assessment and interventions with clients, as well as contributing to the development of strategies to address complex case consultations and risk management work. Additionally, the position requires regular collaboration with community agencies involved in the support and resettlement of individuals leaving custody.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing expert psychological assessments and interventions for individuals within the prison setting.
* Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues to develop and implement effective treatment plans.
* Participating in research initiatives and contributing to the growth and development of the psychology service.
For this role, we are seeking an experienced psychologist with expertise in clinical or counselling psychology. A graduate membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or the British Psychological Society (BPS) is essential, along with a postgraduate professional qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology recognised by PSI.
Desirable qualifications include experience in addressing emotional, mental health, and offence-related difficulties with a forensic population, as well as further therapeutic or research qualifications.
