As a skilled Podiatrist, you will be responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of various foot ailments. This role involves assessing patients' skin conditions, diagnosing and treating ingrown toenails, clipping toenails, and performing general feet care.
You will work closely with patients who have diabetes, providing preventative care and assistance to prevent foot disease. Your duties will include reviewing medical history, listening to patient concerns, and performing physical examinations to determine the condition of patients' feet, ankles, or lower legs.
Key responsibilities include diagnosing foot, ankle, and lower-leg problems through physical exams and other methods, providing treatment for ailments such as prescribing special shoe inserts, and giving advice on foot and ankle care. You will also educate patients on how to improve their conditions and liaise with other healthcare professionals to exchange information about patient progress.
To succeed in this role, you will need a BSc or MSc in Podiatry, CORU registration, membership of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists Ireland, and professional indemnity insurance. Private practice experience is preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply.
