Senior Manager – Site Electrical SME.
Job Overview
This position will lead the electrical discipline for a major biologics manufacturing campus, acting as the Subject Matter Expert for electrical, special systems, life safety and security systems across GMP and non-GMP buildings. The role oversees design, technical review, compliance, construction support and commissioning, ensuring all systems meet regulatory, quality and engineering standards. You will collaborate closely with project, engineering, construction and CQV teams to ensure successful delivery of complex projects and maintain the integrity of the facility's electrical design.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Act as the primary project point of contact for all electrical matters.
* Serve as Lead Engineer/SME for electrical, special systems, life safety and security systems across the site.
* Review and approve design deliverables including drawings, datasheets, specifications and engineering lists.
* Ensure all electrical design and project work complies with regulatory, quality, EHS and engineering standards.
* Represent the site as SME/system owner for electrical systems.
* Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, 3D model reviews, FATs, SATs and construction walkdowns.
* Lead review and evaluation of electrical and special systems drawings and vendor packages.
* Guide A&E and construction partners to ensure designs meet site expectations and standards.
* Lead electrical SWAT activities, punch list resolution and commissioning interface.
* Review TTOPs, VTOPs and support CQV teams to closure.
* Support drawing office and CQV with the correct handover of documentation.
* Lead development and review of bid packages for electrical equipment and construction works.
* Oversee bid package quality, site condition capture and timelines.
* Develop and implement the special systems strategy.
* Maintain Basis of Design intent throughout execution and safeguard design compliance.
* Manage budgets and schedules for electrical-related activities.
* Approve commissioning protocols for relevant systems.
* Support troubleshooting during commissioning and startup.
* Provide guidance for the development of maintenance programmes.
* Liaise with cross-functional teams to ensure coordination and consistency across all disciplines.
* Ensure commissioning readiness of all electrical systems.
* Support schedule development, acceleration opportunities and risk mitigation with CM and CQV teams.
* Ensure proper system inspection, storage, installation protection and construction quality.
* Participate in inspections, first-in-place reviews, mechanical completion and punch item categorisation.
REQUIREMENTS
* Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
* Qualified Electrician with industrial experience.
* Minimum 10 years' experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, including design, construction, commissioning and operation.
* Extensive knowledge of MV/LV distribution, generators, UPS, lighting, voice/data, containment, fire alarm, earthing/bonding, lightning protection, hazardous areas and security systems.
* Strong understanding of electrical engineering codes, standards and industry best practice.
* Experience working on complex projects and within operational facilities.
* Proven SME capability in troubleshooting in a GMP environment.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate across all stakeholder levels.
* Strong organisational, problem-solving and planning abilities.
* Proficiency in relevant software including spreadsheets, word processing, MS Project, Visio, AutoCAD, Navisworks, SAP and building management systems.
* Experience coordinating electrical planning and scheduling across multiple facility buildings.
