Position: Regional Manager – Munster region
Reporting to: Head of Wishgranting/Volunteering
Type: 2 year fixed term contract
OVERVIEW
Make-A-Wish Ireland has one simple aim – to grant the wishes of children with critical medical conditions, to bring hope, strength and happiness.
We are now in an exciting period of growth within the organisation where we are seeking to recruit a Regional Manager within the Munster region.
The Regional Manager is responsible for providing leadership, management and governance for the delivery of Make-A-Wish Ireland’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
To support, guide, train develop and motivate the volunteer teams in your region to reach full potential
To build strategic relationships with various stakeholder groups.
To liaise closely with the hospitals, medical outreach and relevant stakeholders within your region to increase wish referrals.
To liaise directly with the Wishgranting team in the delivery of the wishes
To work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator in relation to distribution of tasks for the volunteers in Munster
To ensure compliance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) with regular spot checks to ensure updated Garda vetting, insurance and accreditation certs for all relevant volunteers within your region.
To deal promptly with issues as they arise within agreed timeframes and provide feedback where appropriate
2. Business Development & Income Generation
Identify, develop, and manage relationships with local and regional businesses to drive corporate fundraising and sponsorship opportunities.
Develop tailored fundraising proposals and partnership packages for potential corporate supporters.
Proactively seek new income streams across Munster, aligning with Make-A-Wish Ireland’s strategic goals.
Manage and grow a pipeline of corporate and community supporters, ensuring high levels of engagement and retention.
Recruit, support, and motivate volunteer fundraisers and community (including school) groups to deliver successful local fundraising initiatives
Support on the delivery of regional fundraising campaigns and events, ensuring they meet income and engagement targets.
Provide resources, guidance, and recognition to Make-A-Wish volunteers, ensuring they feel valued and empowered.
Represent Make-A-Wish Ireland at regional events, school presentations, cheque presentations, and community activities.
In conjunction with the fundraising team, manage the roll-out of Wish Week in the Munster region – the charity’s national fundraising campaign
3. Relationship Management & Stewardship
Build and maintain strong relationships with supporters, volunteers, and wish families within the region.
Work with the fundraising and marketing teams to share stories and promote fundraising successes from the Munster region.
4. Administration & Reporting
Manage budgets, monitor targets, and report on income and activity.
Maintain accurate records of fundraising activity
Work independently while providing regular updates to the Head of Fundraising on progress, challenges, and opportunities.
Person Specification
Proven track record in fundraising, business development, or sales, with experience achieving income targets.
Strong relationship-building and networking skills, with the confidence to engage corporate and community stakeholders.
Excellent communication, presentation, and organisational skills, including marketing experience.
Self-motivated and able to work independently
Experience recruiting, training and motivating community-based volunteers
A people-person, with a positive attitude and good interpersonal skills
An innovative, can-do attitude with willingness to work flexibly including out of hours
Positive, effective and collaborative working style
Passionate about the work of Make-A-Wish and the impact it makes on the lives of sick children and their families
Full clean driver’s licence and willingness to travel
Experience in event management and community engagement.
Please note this role is home based and will require you to travel so your own transport is essential.
