Quality Control Manager – Structural Steel & Modular Fabrication | Professional English Required | Tipperary, Ireland Based

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to own product and process quality across our fabrication and modular manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for EN 1090 Factory Production Control (FPC) and ISO 9001 QMS, ensuring audit-ready systems, right-first-time delivery, and full traceability from material receipt to final handover.
The role spans three facilities in Tipperary:
3D modular assembly facility
Modular fit-out facility
You will lead a team of Quality Technicians, working closely with Engineering, Production, Coatings, Procurement, and Project Management.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Systems & Compliance
Own EN 1090 FPC (EXC up to 3/4 as applicable) and act as ISO 9001 Management Representative
Maintain audit-ready quality systems and documentation
Procedures & Inspection
Develop and enforce ITPs, hold points, and quality procedures for fabrication, modular assembly, coatings, galvanising, FAT and final inspection
Welding & Fabrication Quality
Manage WPS/WPQR libraries, welder qualifications, and weld maps
Provide IWS/IWT/IWE-level welding coordination and visual inspection
Dimensional Control & NDT
Ensure compliance with EN 1090-2 tolerances
Coordinate and witness VT, MT, PT, UT with third-party NDT providers
Materials, Traceability & Coatings
Control EN 10204 3.1 certification, heat number traceability, DFT, adhesion and holiday testing
Verify galvanising quality and vent/drain compliance
Non-Conformance & Improvement
Lead NCR/CAR/8D processes and drive defect prevention
Audit suppliers and manage incoming inspection
Compile CE / EN 1090 documentation, MDRs, DoPs and quality dossiers
Leadership & Digital QA
Lead and develop Quality Technicians
Align QA data within EDMS/BIM systems (Tekla, weld maps, traceability)
Required Experience & Skills
Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering
7+ years QA/QC experience in structural steel fabrication
Strong working knowledge of EN 1090-1/-2, ISO 9001 (ISO 3834 desirable)
Proven welding and coatings inspection expertise
Strong root-cause analysis capability (8D, 5-Why)
Professional-level spoken and written English (essential for audits, reporting and client interface)
Confident communicator and team leader
Proficient in MS Office and QA reporting tools
Full, clean driving licence; willingness to travel to suppliers and sites as required
ICorr / NACE coatings certification
Client-facing experience in regulated sectors (pharma, data centres, utilities)
