The Role
We are seeking an experienced, energetic, and proactive Senior Electrical Engineer to lead our electrical team in Ireland. This role is ideal for someone who is self‑driven, resourceful, and thrives in a dynamic environment. You will play a key role in the design, technical review, and delivery of utility‑scale Solar PV and BESS projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
* You’ll be responsible for all electrical and grid‑related aspects for our projects and be the principal point of contact for interfaces with the system operator and electrical subcontractors.
* Prepare and review electrical designs for Solar PV and BESS projects, including single‑line diagrams, cable sizing, covering all aspects of AC, DC & High & Low voltage equipment and control and protection systems, to ensure compliance with design and quality standards, including Irish grid codes.
* Conduct technical reviews and inspections to ensure compliance with Irish grid codes, electrical standards, and safety regulations.
* Collaborate closely with electrical and grid teams in Germany, to undertake testing, pre‑commissioning and commissioning of Solar and BESS assets in Ireland.
* Mentor electrical and graduate engineers and manage the commissioning and testing activities at construction stage to ensure successful project execution.
Requirements
* Suitable candidates must have a third level degree in Electrical Engineering with 4+ years’ experience working as an Electrical Project Engineer in the HV Energy / Renewable Energy Sector.
* Experience in utility grid contestable design and delivery in Ireland is highly valued.
* Possessing in-depth knowledge of HV/MV/LV systems, and processes involved in achieving a grid connection.
* Experience with Solar PV and/or BESS projects is desirable.
* Proficient in producing and interpreting design drawings and documents, including single‑line diagrams, key line diagrams, block cable diagrams, calculations for equipment sizing and fault ratings, load schedules, specifications, and reports.
* Experience in the design and construction of HV/MV substations is desirable.
* Good communication and problem‑solving skills, supported by a flexible and structured approach, suited to contributing within a dynamic start‑up environment.
