Key Responsibilities as Design Manager Liaising with any consultants, architects in managing design coordination and information, tech submittals involved in the project. Communicate all developed information to the construction team. This communication is a key function of the DM. Establish a relationship with the design team. Manage the technical submittal process including Develop the submittal schedule in line with the programme and procurement schedule. Work with the QSs to get potential equal and approved products over the line. Track submittals and report when design teams have strayed outside of their agreed approval duration. Meet subcontractors and minute meetings regarding dates for submittals, shop drawings, manufacturing durations, on site dates, agree installation approval process, BCAR paperwork and O&M information development. Manage the RFI register and monitor response times. RFIs are developed as the subcontract coordinated designs are developed through the shop drawing stage. It is imperative that the PM keeps the feed of information flow going between the DT and subcontractor to ensure the entire shop drawing process moves forward uninterrupted. Monitor the method statement schedule to ensure comments are received from the client and DT in the agreed time frame. Minute production meetings with subcontractors through the course of the project. During the submittal process, all submittals will eventually achieve a status A. The PM will ensure the information gathered through this process gets filed into the BCAR / O&M folder. Ensure all information is available for the completion of the project in line with the construction programme and assist with the QC management planning of the works. Ensure that the Inspection Notification Framework for BCAR inspections is updated and any prior notifications of inspections are included in the Two week look ahead issued to the design team weekly. Qualifications/Experience: Degree in Engineering discipline, Architectural, Civil. Structural or Construction Management. Experience ideally within a main/specialist contractor. Excellent communication skills Team player with ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
