We are transforming our platform into a fully automated, serverless‑first AWS environment.
This includes the adoption of Lambda, Event Bridge, Dynamo DB, Aurora Limitless, AWS Glue, automated deployments, and Infrastructure as Code.
This role is responsible for operational excellence, environment automation, CI/CD pipelines, Ia C, monitoring, and ensuring smooth delivery from development to production.
Location
Hybrid Kilkenny – must be able to attend the Kilkenny office 2x per week.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain AWS environments using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or AWS CDK).
Implement and manage automated deployment processes for both application and infrastructure changes.
Support the Cloud Architect in implementing serverless and event driven patterns including Lambda, Event Bridge, Step Functions, SQS, SNS, API Gateway, Dynamo DB, and Glue.
Maintain and optimise Aurora Limitless clusters, including backups, monitoring, failover testing, schema updates, and connection patterns.
Design and operate secure networking architectures including VPCs, subnets, NAT, routing, and private integrations.
CI/CD & Tooling
Build, improve, and support CI/CD pipelines for all engineering teams, ensuring safe and repeatable releases.
Create automated workflows for testing, linting, security scanning, packaging, and deployment.
Maintain container build pipelines for any services running in ECS Fargate or similar.
Monitoring, Observability, and Reliability
Implement Cloud Watch dashboards, metrics, logs, alerts, and trace pipelines.
Support event driven architectures with DLQs, retries, idempotency checks, and failure recovery patterns.
Provide operational support for production workloads, including on call rotation as the team grows.
Automate recurring operational tasks, reduce manual processes, and improve system reliability.
Security, Governance, and Compliance
Manage IAM roles, policies, secrets management, and encryption controls.
Ensure cloud infrastructure aligns with internal security standards and customer expectations.
Assist in audit and compliance processes by ensuring accurate logging, monitoring, and configuration tracking.
Work closely with the Cloud Architect to implement the target architecture.
Partner with engineering squads to ensure cloud resources are used correctly and efficiently.
Contribute feedback to architectural designs and challenge inefficiencies or legacy practices.
Take ownership of Dev Ops and Cloud Ops processes, driving continuous improvement.
Required Experience
Strong experience operating production workloads on AWS.
Hands on expertise with Terraform or AWS CDK for Infrastructure as Code.
Building and managing CI/CD pipelines (Git Hub Actions, Git Lab, Code Pipeline, or similar).
Experience with serverless technologies such as Lambda, Dynamo DB, Event Bridge, Step Functions, and SQS.
Exposure to Glue for ETL workflows or data processing.
Comfort working with relational and No SQL databases including Aurora and Dynamo DB.
Good understanding of networking fundamentals, VPC design, security groups, and cross account patterns.
Experience implementing logging, monitoring, and alerting in Cloud Watch or similar tools.
Experience in fintech, compliance platforms, or large multi‑tenant Saa S environments.
Familiarity with Aurora Limitless.
Knowledge of container workloads (ECS Fargate).
Understanding of rate limiting, high throughput workloads, and event driven architectures.
