This role offers strong development opportunities and a clear pathway into Transport Planner and Transport Management roles over time.The roleAs Transport Operations Assistant, you will support the day-to-day running of our transport operation under the guidance of Transport Planners and Transport Management. You will assist with turning transport plans into live routes, support driver communication, and help manage day-to-day operational issues as they arise.This role is hands-on and fast-paced, giving you practical exposure to fleet operations, compliance, and operational decision-making, while allowing you to learn and develop in a structured and supportive environment.Key responsibilitiesYou will assist with daily routing and scheduling activities and help monitor vehicle movements throughout the day. You will communicate with drivers regarding routes, changes, and routine operational queries, escalating issues when required. You will support real-time problem-solving during delays or disruptions, maintain accurate transport and fleet records, update systems, and prepare basic operational reports. You will also assist with transport compliance administration, including driver hours, licences, CPC records, and incident reporting, while working closely with operations, maintenance, and customer service teams.What we're looking forThis role suits someone at an early stage of their career. Previous transport experience is helpful but not essential. We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in transport or logistics, strong organisational and communication skills, and a calm, practical approach to work. You should be comfortable working as part of a team, willing to learn, and able to work in a busy on-site operational environment.
